Dear Call The Grandkids™ clients,
First, we hope you are all remaining healthy!
Concerns around COVID-19 Coronavirus have increased substantially and the last few weeks have become increasingly challenging for Call The Grandkids™, our clients, and companions. The government restrictions that are now in place prevent us from seeing the majority of our clients, as most of us are isolated at home and seniors facilities have restricted visitors.
Despite the challenges, here are some of the ways we can continue to help:
1. In-Person Visits: We are assessing client needs and may be able to continue sending a companion on a case-by-case basis. Our team is taking all government guidelines seriously and we have increased our hand-washing procedures. Any companions showing symptoms are self-isolating at home, and companions are not allowed to see clients at multiple seniors facilities.
2. Virtual or Phone Call Visits: We are experimenting with virtual companionship visits for clients who we cannot currently see in-person but would like to continue conversations with their companions. Our minimum for virtual visits has been reduced to 1 hour and we can call via the phone or conduct video calls using FaceTime or Skype. Let us know if you are interested in giving this a try!
3. Groceries & Errands: If you need assistance with groceries, prescriptions, or other household errands and are unable to leave your home, our companions may be available on a case-by-case basis to assist with these tasks.
We will be in touch with another update as soon as we return to our normal operations and hope to resume visits as smoothly as possible. Thank you for staying home and doing your part to keep everyone healthy! We will all get through this together and tremendously appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time.
